We strongly encourage a complete physical exam for your puppy or kitten at the time of vaccinations. Exams help determine if there are existing congenital, hereditary, or developmental problems. We try to make these visits as informative for you and as fun for your little one as possible. Puppies and kittens should receive at least one exam during the course of their vaccinations prior to their spaying or neutering.
Your adult dog or cat should have an annual thorough physical exam. During the exam we look at the ears, eyes, and mouth. We also listen to their heart and lungs and feel the abdomen and the rest of their body for any growths. Hopefully, any abnormalities can be caught early and treated successfully. Because the older dog or cat is much more likely to have medical problems, we recommend a bi-annual physical exam. Because most animals hide symptoms of internal disorders, we recommend senior pets should get, at the minimum, a blood chemistry profile (BCP) and a complete blood count (CBC) annually for early detection of health problems. Any abnormalities found may need further diagnostic testing. Common health conditions of senior pets include:

Please ask your veterinarian and further questions you may have regarding your pet’s examination requirements.
